Agnes and I met on a mission trip to Romania in the summer of 2004. We went with an organization called Teen Mania. One of the main things they do is send teenagers from around the US and Canada on mission trips throughout the world. Agnes’ family immigrated from Hungary to the east coast before she was born, so her heart was drawn to the trip in Romania. I think I wanted to go to Romania because they advertised visiting orphanages. Before I left a woman at our church prayed that I would meet a girl and become lifelong friends with her. Little did I know “the girl” would be a teammate named Agnes.
Over the past 10 years we’ve flown back and forth between Maryland and Texas visiting each other during school breaks.
We introduced her to Texas!
We celebrated the new year (2005) together.
She became a part of our family.
I introduced her to Sonic and cherry limeades.
And I visited Maryland.
And became a part of her family.
I was in her wedding.
Dad even flew to Maryland with me to officiate their wedding.
She was in my wedding.
Matt (and her precious mom) also made the trip for our wedding.
For Spring Break this year Adam and I flew to Maryland for what we affectionately called our “10 Year Friendiversary”. We lived life together for a whole week and loved every minute of it!
We visited DC.
Had a blast with our HUSBANDS!
Matt and Agnes have an incredible community of friends! They all came over one night to hear about our move to India.
It unexpectedly snowed while we were there…
…and we built a snowman named Kumar!
Mami had us over for dinner. I’m so thankful Adam got to have time with one of the sweetest woman I’ve ever known!
There are no words to describe my thankfulness for these two women.
Our goodbye this time was a little harder with Adam and I moving to India in the next two months. But distance hasn’t stopped us yet! Our next visit will probably include lots of curry, bobbling our heads, rickshaws and lots of joy!
Love you, Agnes! Can’t wait to be your friend for the next 10 years!!
