• › A Few Glimpses of My Saturday {May 30}

    A regular Saturday.
    Laundry duty.

I finally managed to book a slot in the laundry room and grabbed it immediately. It’s honestly crazy how much laundry piles up when you have a child who changes clothes constantly. Maybe not every five minutes, but sometimes it feels like it.

    Today’s little glimpses:

    ● Laundry
    ● Folding laundry
    ● Sending in my last assignments despite everything going on
    ● Grocery shopping
    ● Uncomfortable children but understanding parents
    ● Scratch mark on my ankle

One thing that stayed with me today happened while we were out shopping.

A little background: because of past experiences with kindergarten, my son has spent much of his life separated from other children (kindergarten). Ever since he was little, he has been incredibly drawn to them. He loves children and often assumes everyone is a friend.

Today, he ran up and hugged two children.

As a parent to a child with special needs, those moments are always difficult. You never know how people will react.

They were uncomfortable, which I understand. A child coming up like a train at full speed towards them. I had no chance to stop him due to him being so strong, and people here are very alert to reporting anything to the CPS. Sadly.

Luckily, both parents were understanding when I explained the situation.

One of the parents actually smiled and said the following:

“Aww, you got a hug.  That is so sweet”

And honestly? That made me happy.

Not everyone is understanding, and situations like these can be stressful.

Having a child with autism comes with challenges that many people never see. A lot of the time it feels like you’re constantly advocating, explaining, protecting, and helping your child navigate a world that isn’t always patient.

But today, for a small moment, people chose kindness.

And I appreciated that more than they probably realized.

Scratch mark by a straw in metal. Painful

  • › Currently Running on Stress and Caffeine

Stress, chaos, and an unhealthy amount of caffeine. Oops!

    Today’s summary:

    ● Hospital & meetings

    ● Phone calls

    ● Picking up medicine

    ● Grocery shopping

    ● Making dinner

    ● Stress

    ● Chaos

    ● Pepsi Max

    ● Bed and music ~ Warrior Shaman

    That’s it.

    That’s the Friday.

    Simple but chaotic.

  • › I Blame My ADHD and Its Impulse Decisions

Being bored and having ADHD is honestly a dangerous combination.

    And I… oooph.

Having ADHD and being bored is honestly not a great combination.

My hair was dark chocolate brown with grey roots showing, and while I was relaxing (kind of) in front of the TV, I suddenly got the massive urge to dye my hair.

    So I did.

    I couldn’t fight the impulse.

    The result?
    Brown with red tones.

    And honestly… it’s kinda pretty.

Normally I have neon red hair, but this time I wanted to try something different. I’ve never had brown and red mixed together before.

Maybe not showing so good but it’s a pretty color.

  • › A Little Saturday Adventure

Cinnamon buns, tiny sunglasses, and a slow Saturday in town.

Glimpses of my Saturday, even though the day isn’t over yet.

Today, my son and I took the bus into town to meet up with M (his dad) and have a little Swedish fika together.

    Well… E did, at least.
A cinnamon bun and a Cola Zero.

While M walked around the stores with E, I quietly snuck away to look for a pair of sunglasses for him.

I happened to spot a tiny pair in his size and bought them instantly.

So maybe now he can finally stop stealing mine.
    He takes them constantly. Haha.

    I was lucky though.
They were the last pair left.

  • › Back Outside Again

Finally Had Some Energy to Bring My Camera Out. I didn’t realize how much I missed this part of myself.

Sometimes all you need is a camera and a quiet walk.

I haven’t had much motivation or inspiration lately to bring my camera outside and spend time taking photos, clearing my mind, and just relaxing.

    But yesterday, I finally did.

I was actually supposed to go out last Monday, but the sun was way too harsh all day, so there was no point. Then Tuesday ended up being rainy from morning to evening, and on Wednesday I simply didn’t have time.

    So yesterday became the day.

And honestly? I was so happy.

Holding my camera again, focusing on tiny subjects, adjusting the aperture and ISO, listening to music while walking around… I had really missed it.

I didn’t actually take that many photos, but I still spent hours outside with my camera bag over my shoulder.

The straps hurt my arms though, so I first went to a clothing store and bought those non-slip bra straps to try and fix it. That didn’t help much, so later I ended up going to a hardware store and buying seatbelt protection for kids instead.

    Surprisingly, it worked much better.

I also spent a few hours with my best friend. She came with me while I was looking for the seatbelt protection, and later we had dinner and milkshakes together.

When I got home, I edited the photos I took with my phone instead of the camera ones. I haven’t even checked the camera photos properly yet because I noticed while shooting that the focus kept landing on the bugs’ bodies instead of their heads.

Still, this whole day reminded me how much I miss this part of myself.

Spending hours outside with music in my ears and a camera in my hands makes my whole body feel calmer.

I really need to get back into it.
