• › Hello October! Life Lately, Halloween, School, Mental Health & Everything In Between | The EVERFLOW

So much has happened lately, my head can’t stop spinning. Building furniture, studying, shopping for the home, my mental health declining, celebrating 20 years as best friends and 2 years as cousins. Social training and so much more.

Hi, hello my pumpkins! It’s October and that means that it’s Halloween. Yes, Halloween started for me already in October last year — mentally — but in things etc. Oh well!

How are you all? I hope you all are doing amazing! How has your fall been so far? Or maybe you have another season? I know in some countries it’s summer now etc. Yeah, I can’t really have my brain work through that process at the moment. I know about Earth, rotations etc., but too much for me right now.

So, any plans for the upcoming week? I’m having meetings and celebrating my best friend / cousin who turns 37 tomorrow! 🥳 Woop.

I have so many pictures to show you all, but I thought I would make a collage later with some photos. I am currently in bed right now, struggling to stay awake 🥲 so I will fix it in the upcoming days — I’ve got a few things left to send my teacher > assignments < before I get new ones PLUS a big exam on Tuesday. Do not look forward to that, but the show must go on.

Goodnight my pumpkins! And sorry for being absent from EverFlow.

  • › What I Wish I Knew During My Darkest Depression

Have you ever had the thought, “If I could go back in time, what would I tell my younger self?”

For me… honestly, this post will be 1000% raw and authentic. The truth will be told here.

    ⚠️ Warning: mentions of

    suicide and self-harm ⚠️

If I’m being honest, I wish I could go back to the time when I was at my deepest depression — when I harmed myself badly, wrote goodbye letters to my mum, and tried so many times to end my life.

I wish I could go back in time and tell my mum not to worry — that I wouldn’t do it. Back when I slept with kitchen knives (not the ones you eat with) under my pillow.

Depression made me awful to my mum. Me harming myself hurt her deeply. I was awful to my siblings too, who dropped everything the second they noticed I was gone. My brother drove back and forth looking for me. My siblings ran around calling my name, trying to find me, terrorized by the calls and the fear of not knowing where I was.

If I could turn back time and know what I know today, I would have stopped.

I would have told younger Emma (yes, that’s my name, but I go by Mii):
Don’t do it. It’s not worth it. You will have your own family one day. You need to stay strong so you can be there for them — and for mum when she gets older.

Or maybe just a few simple words:
    It’s not worth it.

Sorry for such a deep conversation, but I wanted you to know a little bit of my background before sharing what I would have said to my younger self.

What would you have told your younger self?

  • › Things I Wish People Talked More About — Behind Closed Doors

Not every struggle is visible,  and not every smile tells the truth

Today, the world is all about “me, me, me,” money, fame, views, likes, followers, becoming an influencer — which honestly means nothing to me.

What I have noticed is that people don’t talk enough about mental health struggles, bullying, and how deeply those things can affect a person. People are often too afraid to be open about their real life — the struggles, the pain, the things happening behind closed doors. Not everyone fights demons, but you get what I mean.

That’s one reason why I am so open about these things. It’s nothing to hide.

No, I’m not trying to be one of those influencers, advocates, or whatever it’s called.

In EverFlow, as I’ve written in the sidebar, this blog/home is a place where I keep things raw and authentic — no sugarcoating.

One thing I have noticed about depression is how people sometimes distance themselves from you, almost as if depression is contagious. Adult loneliness (and yes, this happens to children and teens too, but I’m speaking from adult experience here) can be incredibly hard. Constantly struggling alone, having no one to talk to, no one to have those deep conversations with.

When in public or around friends, many people with depression tend to mask everything. They act happy, joke around, and behave as if nothing is wrong. But once that shell comes off, they can fall into a very dark place. Sometimes they cry. Sometimes they feel completely numb.

    Depression doesn’t always look depressed.

    You can smile.
    You can laugh.
    You can work.
    You can joke around.

And still struggle deeply with your mental health.

Mental health struggles aren’t always about depression either — it’s a broad area.

Personally, I struggle with poor mental health for different reasons: grief, trauma, and other painful experiences. One major way it affects me is my energy.

Most people know me as happy, joking Emma — and often that is genuinely me. But the exhaustion is hard to explain. I feel tired all the time, even after sleeping. Sometimes I have no energy to do anything and have to force myself through the day.

Some days are good. Some days are bad.

And that’s not just me — that’s reality for many people.

Mental exhaustion and physical exhaustion often go hand in hand. Some people only have enough energy to do one thing before they completely crash. My best friend / cousin calls this the “spoon theory.” You start the day with a limited number of spoons — each task costs spoons. Sometimes one single thing drains all of them.

And when you’re out of spoons, you’re out.

Another side effect mental health has had on me is memory issues. This is extremely hard both for me and the people around me. Sometimes people brush it off or assume I’m exaggerating.

    But I’m not.

I can ask the same question ten times and get the same answer ten times. For me, my brain can feel like a goldfish — I hear it, I listen… and then suddenly, it’s gone.

One thing my best friend once said that stayed with me is that many people with depression become experts at masking reality by saying, “I’m fine,” while carrying something much heavier inside.

Some people struggle with suicidal thoughts — I was one of them.
Some people struggle with self-harm — I was one of them.

These are things happening behind closed doors.

Often, no one knows until it’s too late.

Many people with poor mental health hide who they really are because they’re terrified of becoming a burden. They mask out of fear — fear of judgment, rejection, pity, or being treated differently.

Toxic relationships, family problems, trauma, gaslighting, bullying, grief, shame, and self-hatred are just some of the many things that can contribute to mental struggles.

    So remember this:

Just because someone smiles, works, jokes, and shows up doesn’t mean they are okay.

Not everyone shows what is really going on.

    I know I didn’t.
And truthfully, I still don’t show everything — out of fear.

  • › Healing is active courage—showing up for yourself even when no one is clapping.

Healing isn’t about becoming someone new. It’s about returning to who you were before the world taught you to abandon yourself.

I am healing at a pace my nervous system can trust. I refuse to rush what took years to survive.

Working on myself both mentally and spiritually is the best decision I have taken. Healing myself from childhood traumas and sorrow, and for hurting myself for years, takes time.

I’m still alive! I have been physically exhausted and missed school this week’s Tuesday, but I’m now on my way to a city for a dentist appointment for E. A child dentist (pedodontist) who specializes in special needs kids.

I prefer sleeping, but the adult must adulting today. Lol!

  • › Return.. to the… oh no

Preparing mentally for the return to school.

I know I have been quiet but honestly, my mental is getting prepared (plus recharged) to go back to school with over 3k kids. 😬

Hello, my beautiful souls! 🩷 I hope you all are doing well! I haven’t blogged since January 5th, I know, but I have been trying to get as much rest as I could before school starts tomorrow. I was so stressed and had so much panic, etc., about me sending the assignments in before the deadline, so I crashed after. Mentally, my entire body and brain got drained of so much energy.

    — ADHD —

I have fallen asleep daily during the daytime, and I have also, in between this, started with new medication. I’m trying ADHD medicine again (I have not had medicines for ADHD since I was 20). I tried once, but wow… bad), and that one makes me tired as well.

    — Makeup —

Pink & Blue. Yes, I walked outside with these looks. On the blue look I have added blue eyeshadow on the eyebrows as well (after taken the pics).

I have had some energy twice so far that I have actually done makeup. If you know me, I’m obsessed with makeup and love to do makeup looks, but you know… THAT happened, but I’m slowly getting back to it. I mean, I have done it twice already! The last time before these two I did makeup was in September, and before that, March. So going from having makeup daily to having it once in a while is a big change.

One of my goals for 2026 (I posted it earlier, but this is just a reminder to myself) is to try to get back to doing makeup and to try to have energy to do the things I love, such as makeup, photography, blogging, and going for walks. I miss being out in nature. Of course, with my camera in one hand and a stick to remove branches, etc., with the other hand.

    — WRONG BROWN! —

Since I go back to school tomorrow (read, +3k students), I wanted to dye my hair. New semester, new hair. Honestly, I wanted to dye it red, but to let my hair rest, I did brown. It doesn’t make me dye my hair often if I have brown compared to when I have red. 😬 When I have red hair, I dye it 3-5 times a week—yes, you read that right!!! So imagine how ruined my hair is. Everything to just keep my bright neon red hair going.

I tried to make the light “normal,” but I took these in the bathroom, and it has yellow lights, so I apologize for that. // ADHD & HAIR DYE—total disaster / No, I didn’t put a stamp on these.

I thought I bought just a regular brown hair dye and after looking in the mirror, it was super super dark! Yes I took selfie with the cardboard box but I didn’t look at the number 😬 I had taken dark brown and it looks almost black on me. Oh my.

So we’ll see how it looks tomorrow when I get ready for school. I always let my hair air dry, so I don’t know how the color really is until tomorrow 😅 it dries super slow.

    — Wish me luck —

I’m both excited and mostly anxious about going back to school. I don’t know if I passed the classes last semester or not. Honestly, I don’t feel motivated to go back, but I refuse to quit now.

I hope you all have a wonderful week 🩷🩷🩷
