• › Chaotic Thoughts, Expensive Medicine & Pepsi Max Addiction

Not every day is productive — some days are just survival mode.

    The struggle is real today.

Another day has come to an end and I have actually been struggling a lot with my head. So many chaotic thoughts, mental struggle and all that shebang.

Today hasn’t been much other than I went to the drugstore and got my new medicine. Ridiculously expensive! 3907 SEK! That is 353€ and/or $402. This will be the price for me MONTHLY 💀  I almost passed out (not literally)  when I saw the amount.

    Holy h*ll!

I also went to the supermarket. I was only going there to buy French fries but I left the store with 8 bottles of Pepsi Max and the French fries.

I know – Emma… you just bought a lot of Pepsi Max..yes, yes I did but .. a girl can never have enough. Plus it was on sale/campaign so .. why not? 😅💀 I think i need to enter a rehab for Pepsi Max addiction.  Like no joke (joking at the same time).

    Oops.

Bulgaria trip; I have started to pack. I know,  3 weeks-ish till the bon voyage but me, ADHD and chaotic memory need to do this. But today I only fixed the travel bottles with essentials I need. I haven’t brought the suitcase up from the storage room yet but if I know myself, it will come up to my beloved bedroom within a few days. Oops! 😇

My mental struggle today has been that I haven’t had energy. Also talking with the doctor about my meds made me exhausted. So much information I had in a 3-minuteo call. Crazy. So I have a  migraine right now – not only because of the phone call but the stress around everything.

  • › Ready for an Adventure

Hello my beautiful flowers! I hope you all are doing good! How are you?

    ●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●

A bus ride, a crowded grocery store and one very determined little adventurer.

Non-verbal autistic child shopping in a grocery store during a family day out.

I just sat down after today’s adventure with E. As you know, he has autism – level 3 – and is non-verbal. Due to him not having the after-school care thingy for the rest of the summer, I have to come up with a million ideas of what to do with him – like I normally do, but living here, it’s not that fun. At least he enjoys it.

Today’s adventure; bus, grocery store, bus and home.

He has been nagging about the trip we went on to another city – bus, train, shopping, train, bus – and I have always felt really bad for saying “not today, maybe tomorrow” etc.

Today he repeatedly said “bus, shopping – bus” and started to get ready > pants, shirt, underwear (he took care of his hygiene himself), brushed his teeth and hair, put on his shoes and jacket.

“Ready!” all of a sudden I heard while I was out on the balcony.

I laughed when I saw him ready for an adventure, so I took him on a bus ride (he is obsessed with buses) and the joy when we finally sat down on the bus. Oh my.

Non-verbal autistic child enjoying a bus ride and looking out the window.

When I saw the parking lot at the grocery store, my heart started to beat super fast and I felt that I didn’t want to do this. The parking lot was MAXED with cars! It was insane!

But I had promised E, so I ignored my feelings and we got off. I told E to hold my hand and whatever he did – do not let my hand go.

Luckily, if a child gets lost in Sweden, people usually help them find their parent or notify store staff. So while I was worried about the crowds and the noise, I wasn’t worried about E getting abducted or anything like that.

While inside, oh my God. I wanted to turn around instantly. My mind was racing:

“How will this go? How will E act?” (He gets tantrums when there are a lot of people and noises.) “Where are the hearing protections?” etc.

Toys; as a reward (before actually entering the food sections of the store), I got him a second train. I knew that would help him stay a little calmer because he could focus on that one.

Food sections; thank God I have taught E to hold the cart in front of me and me behind him. So it’s me – E – cart.

Because oh my Lord how insane people are when holidays are happening in Sweden. This time; Midsummer.

We literally had to do a maze between people to grab our stuff and when we were outside after the shopping, I let out the biggest sigh of relief. We were done.

    We did it!

Remind me to never go to grocery stores during holidays or a few days before. It was worse than Christmas time and people in Sweden are insane when it comes to Christmas and Easter.

  • › Our Son Had His Own Graduation

Today is not a regular day because today it was my son’s end-of-the-school year celebration.

    Swedish celebration - skolavslutning
    Swedish flag in the wind.

We went to his school to see the “graduation”. Was waiting for them to come walking and start the singing..until a mother or if it was an assistant or teacher, came up to me “Are you E’s mom?” I answered yes and she told me that my son’s class was having their singing somewhere else.

I got very irritated to be honest, because this has made us miss 10 minutes of his singing. I told M where they were so we went there.

None of us had gotten the information about this. We thought they were gonna celebrate at their regular location, no they had changed location!

So unfortunately we missed 10 minutes but we attended for the rest. Unfortunately we had to hide (mostly me) because E would have left the classes and their performance to run up to me. I saw a little bit of it.

He was so good! He attended the whole performance with the class. Sure, when they were was switching songs (the teachers use signs and signlanguage to show and tell which song was next) we heard E sing randomly “Keep going but be supersneaky” < another type of Baby Shark and so many other songs. I laughed.

Our son had his own graduation.

It was wonderful to see and hear him participate in every event.

I love E and how funny he is. Parents were laughing as well. Imagine, all quiet location, before sign languages etc and speak started, all you could hear was my son singing baby shark.

After the graduation of our son, M and I left (E was gonna stay in school to have an end-of-school year with his class), we decided to go to the foodstore. Todays dinner; Indian food and rice.

  • › It’s Secured & There’s No Risk of Running Out!

It’s secured. No risk of me going without it. It was expensive, but it was on sale — half price compared to its normal price.

Hey guys! I hope you are all doing well today! I have not said that in a long time. I’M SORRY!! How are you? How have you been? Any news you want to share? Talk to me 🥰 Let’s have a conversation in the comments!

Heading into town with headphones, sunshine, and a backpack full of plans.
It’s a cardigan I tied around my bag

Now to the post — and you are probably wondering what I mean by the title.

Well, first things first: I did not go to the BS event the teacher sent an invitation to. Nope.

Second: the Pepsi Max is secured 🙌🏼

Shopping cart filled with Pepsi Max, protein drinks, and snacks.

Yes, I went into town just to buy Pepsi Max, and then I remembered that my son had been pointing at chips in the advertisement papers, so I bought those too. I also picked up my new obsession (well… not new, but new for this use): vanilla protein drinks that I have started using in my smoothies alongside the powder and oh my God… game changer 🙌🏼

Heading home on the bus after carrying way too much Pepsi Max.
    It’s moments like this I wish I had a car 😅

Let me tell you, this was heavy! But it was secured! So getting home was a challenge. Sun high up in sky, massive head, a bag on wheels, backpack and a shopping bag with all the Pepsi Max plus the other. Heavy!

Sadly, I still had to go to the grocery store after I got home and dropped the Pepsi Max off because I needed to buy dinner and breakfast stuff.

Small grocery shopping trip after already spending too much money earlier.

Today I spent around $70 😵‍💫 Mostly on soda, but it is fine. They do not have this sale very often, so whenever they do… I attack the packages 😂

Well, not literally. But you get it.

Todays dinner; my own chicken buttermasala and rice. Plus veggies ofcourse.

  • › 80s/90s Vibes in a Very Expensive World

A few snapshots were taken and edited to make them look like they were shot with a disposable camera.

I tried editing these photos to make them look like I took them with a disposable camera/film camera. I’m in that era right now where I want pictures to have that 80s/90s vibe, you know? That vintage (wow, now I feel old!) vision, feeling, and look.

I still have a lot to work on, but hey, you have to start somewhere, right? I’m still looking for a good editing app for my phone where I can get edits exactly like that.

    ● Grocery shopping
    ● An event is happening where we live
    ● The stress from all the noise and E’s struggles with loud sounds
    ● SUPER EXPENSIVE!

All this for THAT MUCH. Grocery shopping in Sweden is a joke

Even though the Swedish government officially announced that taxes and food prices would go down starting April 1st to make everyday necessities cheaper… well… this bag that my son and I carried home from the store cost me $80. $80!! That is freaking insane!

    ● Bad habits stuff
    ● Pepsi Max
    ● A small piece of meat
    ● French fries
    ● Potato salad
    ● Two cakes for Sweden’s National Day celebration
    ● One can of corn
    ● A small tub of roasted onions
    ● Popcorn

Grocery shopping in Sweden is EXPENSIVE
Grocery shopping with an autistic child is a challenge

That’s it. Those were the items. And keep in mind that they were on sale, meaning they were cheaper because of the occasion.

Back in the 90s, this probably would’ve cost around $25 or something, but $80!? It’s unbelievable how money-hungry the government is. It’s disgusting. And these aren’t even proper everyday necessities (well, maybe not what I bought specifically, but you know what I mean).

    ●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●

The event happening here is something they do every year. Face painting, candy fishing, politics, running marathons, etc. There’s a lot going on, and it’s SO LOUD. That’s why grocery shopping (aka “getting robbed” shopping!) was such a challenge for me—well, mostly for E—but we made it through. Thank God.

Now we’re home, about to do laundry and relax. Maybe have a little spa time. Put rice water in my hair and do some hair masks. Hm, lovely, but we’ll see how much energy I have left after walking up and down 30 steps every single time. Lol.

Yes, I’m complaining right now, and no, I am not sugarcoating that I have a bad habit.
